Annual Juried Art Exhibition Official Rules
Eligibility: Open to students world-wide in grades K through 12, or comparable age, except Crayola LLC and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. employees and their immediate families, its parent, subsidiaries and affiliates, agencies and judges. Void where prohibited. Subject to all federal, state, province and local laws.
Artwork submission requirements: Image of original student artwork that shows how creativity connects the world and a written statement that answers "What creativity means to me and others around the world" must be submitted on Crayola.com (international submissions via firstname.lastname@example.org). A parent-signed submission/permission form, available on Crayola.com/artexpo, must be e-mailed to email@example.com (or sent to the mailing address provided online) before artwork will appear in the online gallery. The student's written statement should be about the theme as shown in the artwork, and be 50 words or less. Original artwork must be 2-D art and must not exceed 16" x 20". Do not submit images of 3-D art. Entries must be of student's own concept and creation, executed solely by the student. An electronic image of the artwork must be submitted in high resolution (at least 300 dpi). Original art should not be submitted until the finalists are selected and artwork is collected. Electronic submission must contain only the image of the artwork itself (e.g. do not submit a picture of the student holding the artwork). No name should be visible on the student's artwork. Submissions not complying with the Official Rules, entries containing errors, or entries containing offensive or defamatory material, may be disqualified at the sole discretion of Crayola.
How to enter: Entries may be submitted by a student's teacher or parent and will be accepted between 12:01 a.m. (ET) 1/31/12 and 11:59 p.m. (ET) 4/16/12. U.S. and Canadian students' artwork is submitted through www.Crayola.com/artexpo; artwork from other countries should be submitted via firstname.lastname@example.org. To enter, a submitter must complete and e-mail a copy of the parental permission form for each student, regardless of country. The form is available for download at www.Crayola.com/artexpo . Submitter must follow the process set forth on the site for uploading the accompanying artwork and written statement.
Judging: Artwork will be judged in grade (or comparable age) categories K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. There is no maximum number of submissions per child, entrants per grade level or per submitter. Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of employees of Crayola LLC and independent judges selected by Crayola, with final judgment to be made at the sole discretion of Crayola. The artwork will be judged and the selections will be based on the following criteria: 1) Interpretation and use of the theme: "Creativity connects the world" in the artwork 2) How the child's written statement articulates "What creativity means to me and others around the world" (K-2nd Grade students' answers can be recorded by an adult) 3) Visual appeal/aesthetics 4) Originality 5) Age appropriateness 6) Craftsmanship. Prizes: Up to three submissions will be chosen as finalists from each grade. Finalists and Finalists' submitters will each receive $100 worth of Crayola products (retail value), and Finalists each receive a plaque with a replica of their original artwork. Finalists will also be honored by having their original artwork framed, donated to, and exhibited at the national office of the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. or a Regional Office, as determined by the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, one of the 36 finalists will be selected as the Grand Prize winner, based on the same judging rubric. That student's family and the submitter's family will each win two (2) Royal Caribbean International® 7-night Caribbean double-occupancy cruise certificates (up to a maximum of 4 people per family). Approximate Retail Value (ARV) per Royal Caribbean Grand Prize: $4098. Total ARV of Royal Caribbean Grand Prizes: $8,196. In addition, Crayola LLC will provide a total of 8 winners' round-trip air/ground transportation to closest cruise port (maximum $500/person). Total ARV of Royal Caribbean/Crayola Grand Prizes: up to $12,196.
By authorizing the submitter to make this entry, the entrant grants to Crayola LLC, its licensees and assigns, a perpetual royalty-free, worldwide license to copy, reproduce and make derivative works from the submitted work and written statement, in whole or in part, for any purpose, in any media (printed or electronic) without additional compensation and without prior approvals.
If the student's artwork is selected as a Finalist, entrant agrees to assign all copyrights and all right, title and interest in and to the entry and original artwork to Crayola LLC and to mail the artwork and the original signed submission form to Crayola Education Dept., 1100 Church Lane, Easton, PA 18044 by 4/30/12. Original artwork will become the property of Crayola LLC and will not be returned.
Notification: All Finalists, including Grand Prize winner, will be notified via the e-mail address provided by the submitter. If Crayola does not receive the original artwork and signed permission form by 4/30/12, another Finalist will be chosen at Crayola's discretion.
Additional Rules: Submissions will become the property of Crayola. Crayola will not be held liable for non-authorized human intervention or for entries that are stolen, incomplete, lost, damaged, illegible, defaced, or misdirected due to technology. Crayola may terminate, suspend, extend or modify the Rules and Conditions of the Juried Art Exhibition. By entering the Juried Art Exhibition, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these rules. Entry constitutes permission to use student's and submitter/teacher's names and likenesses and student's entry by Crayola, U.S. Department of Education or Royal Caribbean for commercial and/or publicity purposes without compensation or approval (except where prohibited by law) and for investigation of eligibility.
Grand Prize Redemption Rules: Royal Caribbean International cruise prizes awarded to the Grand Prize student winner and Grand Prize submitter will each consist of two (2) 7-night Caribbean double-occupancy cruise certificates to be redeemed between 5/1/12 and 12/31/12. Prize recipients are responsible for all taxes, gratuities, and passport fees, as well as transportation costs that exceed the maximum of $500/person. Crayola is responsible for prize recipients' round-trip transportation, up to $500 maximum, from winners' home city to cruise port (Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Galveston, TX; New Orleans, LA; Port Canaveral, FL; or San Juan, PR). Cruise port cities subject to change.
Winner Requirements: Grand Prize consists of two 7-Night Caribbean cruises for four (4) aboard a Royal Caribbean International vessel in double-occupancy staterooms. Cruise prize includes standard guest accommodations. Cruise provided subject to the terms and conditions in Royal Caribbean's guest ticket cruise contract, Complimentary Cruise Certificate and applicable brochure. Such terms and conditions of use that are listed on these documents include, but are not limited to the following:
- Cruise must be booked 21 days prior to sailing;
- Sailing must be completed by December 31, 2012;
- Blackout dates apply: Christmas, New Years and Peak Summer of July and August;
- Certificate only applicable to stateroom categories F, H, I, M, L, N, and Q
For Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas only, eligible stateroom categories are G, F, H, I, M, L, N, and Q. Stateroom category upgrades and 3rd and 4th guests in the stateroom can be booked for additional fees, based on availability. Cruise prize is subject to stateroom availability at time of booking. Winners and guests are responsible for all travel documents (such as a passport and visa) required for travel. Royal Caribbean is not responsible for flight postponement or cancellation. Winner and guests must travel at the same time on the same itinerary. No guest under 21 years of age will be booked in a stateroom unless accompanied by a person who is 21 years or older. A parent or legal guardian must accompany all guests under the age of 18. Married couples who do not meet these age restrictions may, at Royal Caribbean's discretion, be permitted to sail. Winner and guests must sign Royal Caribbean's passenger ticket contract prior to being allowed to board the cruise. Compensation will not be provided for any unused portions of any prize. Winner and guest are each solely responsible for any and all costs, other than those specifically stated in the Official Rules that may be incurred or arise as a result of being awarded a prize. Such costs may include, but are not limited to all federal, state, local, or other government or quasi-governmental taxes and fees, fuel supplement charges, travel insurance, any travel costs and items of a personal nature (i.e. shore excursions, passport fees, gratuities, alcoholic beverages, photographs, some entertainment, service fees, medical services, etc.). Prize consists of only those items specifically listed as part of the prize. Royal Caribbean International is not responsible for and will not replace lost, stolen or destroyed certificates. Approximate Retail Value: $4098. Actual value will depend on selected dates of sailing.
Grand Prize cruises will be awarded only upon winner redemption, confirmation, verification and final approval by Sponsor. No substitution, transfer of any prize or cash alternative permitted, except by Sponsor who reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, if prize, or portion of prize, becomes unavailable. Potential Prize Winners will receive a prize confirmation via electronic mail or phone. If the Prize Notification is returned undeliverable; or if the potential winner otherwise fails to fully comply with these Official Rules, he/she will forfeit that prize. Potential Prize Winners must respond to winning notification within ten (10) days of receipt of notification. The potential winner will be sent via e-mail, United States Postal Mail and/or overnight mail an Affidavit of Eligibility/Compliance and Publicity/Liability Release forms (unless prohibited by law), a W9 form and a guest release form to be completed by his/her guest (if applicable). These forms must be completed, signed, notarized and returned to Crayola LLC within ten (10) days of date of issuance. Once the potential Prize Winner accepts, then and only then, will he/she become the "Winner." If the potential winning entrant of the Prize cannot be contacted; is ineligible; fails to claim the prize; if the Prize Notification is returned undeliverable, or if the potential winner otherwise fails to fully comply with these Official Rules, he/she will forfeit that prize and the prize will be awarded to an alternate potential winner. All decisions of the Promotion Entities shall be binding and final.
Prize is not transferable and may not be given, bartered, sold, or exchanged for cash or for another prize, except at Sponsor's sole discretion due to prize unavailability for any reason and then only for a prize of equal or greater value. Grand prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in accordance with the Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Royal Caribbean.
Winner Notification /Release: Winners, by participating in the Art Exhibition and acceptance of a prize, agree to release Crayola LLC, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., and each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, suppliers, distributors and advertising, promotional or judging agencies, and each of their respective shareholders, officers, directors, members, employees, agents and assigns (collectively the "Released Parties") from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Art Exhibition or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Art Exhibition if it is tampered with or corrupted in any manner and in the event of cancellation, the judging rubric will be used to determine alternate winner from all eligible entries received as of the date of cancellation. Except where prohibited by law, winner must consent to the use of his/her name, voice, picture or other likeness without compensation for promotional purposes in all media as determined by Sponsor.
Finalists and Grand Prize Winner List: The Finalists' artwork and notice of the Grand Prize winner will be posted on Crayola.com by 8/13/12.
